Position overview
EM3 is seeking an experienced project manager to lead the successful delivery of complex mechanical, electrical and energy infrastructure projects within industrial environments. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate contractors and stakeholders, and deliver projects safely, on time, within budget and to a high quality standard.
Key responsibilities
Project delivery and execution
- Lead the delivery of multiple energy and decarbonisation projects across industrial facilities
- Oversee all phases: planning, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover
- Ensure timely execution within agreed budgets and scope
Stakeholder management
- Act as the key liaison between EM3, clients, contractors, vendors and internal teams
- Facilitate regular project meetings, progress reports and stakeholder updates
Programme and resource management
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules and resource plans using MS Dynamics
- Coordinate internal and external personnel across disciplines
Budget and cost control
- Prepare project budgets, track costs and manage change orders
- Monitor cash flow, invoicing and project profitability with the finance team
Quality and compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards and client protocols
- Lead quality assurance and commissioning validation procedures
Risk management
- Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies
- Maintain updated risk registers and contingency plans
Reporting and documentation
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including Gantt charts, meeting minutes and safety records
- Provide project dashboards and executive summaries
Core competencies
- Project management excellence: proficient in planning, scheduling, budgeting and executing technical and engineering projects, able to manage complex projects with multiple contractors and stakeholders
- Technical acumen: a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in industrial settings, with experience in energy efficiency, decarbonisation or utility infrastructure projects
- Leadership and communication: a proven ability to lead project teams and drive cross-functional collaboration, with excellent written and verbal communication for technical presentations
- Health, safety and environment: knowledge of construction safety regulations, risk assessments and method statements, and the ability to enforce safety best practices across sites
- Procurement and contracting: experienced in contractor selection, vendor management and contract administration
- Problem solving and decision making: the ability to assess technical and logistical challenges and deliver pragmatic solutions
Qualifications and experience
- Degree in mechanical, electrical, energy or industrial engineering
- Eight or more years of project management experience in energy, industrial, utilities or capital projects
- PMP, PRINCE2 or an equivalent certification is desirable
- A strong understanding of sustainability, energy systems and decarbonisation technologies
- Experience with industrial clients in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, medical devices or data centres is highly valued
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites
