An Energy Management Service That Runs on Engineering, Not a Dashboard
A structured, ISO 50001-aligned energy management programme delivered by a dedicated team of energy managers and engineers, without the SAPERA platform. You get the engineering judgement, the audits and the action plan, with engineer-led reporting rather than an automated dashboard.
- A full energy management programme, not a one-off study or a report
- Aligned with the ISO 50001 framework, in depth, not just at headline level
- Engineer-led monitoring and reporting, delivered without the SAPERA platform
- Backed by a dedicated energy management team, not a single contact
- Part of SHV Energy
- ISO 50001

What This Service Is
The Energy Management Service without SAPERA is an engineer-led energy management support service delivered by EM3 without access to the live SAPERA platform or its cloud dashboards. It is an energy management programme designed to reduce costs through efficiency improvements, enhance sustainability, support compliance through alignment with ISO 50001, and deliver engineer-led monitoring and reporting on your facility's energy trends.
It is a structured energy management programme rather than a one-off study, delivered through routine reporting, data analysis and ongoing support from a dedicated team of energy managers and engineers, all aligned with the principles and framework of ISO 50001. Unlike the platform-enabled version, this service does not include the SAPERA dashboards and does not include automated reporting. The reporting is provided through Excel, but it is engineer-led: the value is in the engineering, not the software.

The Challenge It Solves
The client is usually looking for support in four specific areas. They want to reduce costs through improved efficiency and optimised energy use. They want to enhance sustainability by aligning energy management with their environmental and corporate goals. They need support for compliance through alignment with ISO 50001. And they need engineer-led monitoring and reporting on their facility's energy trends.
Underneath those, the client needs help establishing baselines, measuring energy performance, developing a focused energy action plan and tracking performance continuously. So the problem is not simply a high energy spend. It is that the client needs a structured energy management service that can measure performance, support planning and maintain ISO 50001-aligned energy management, without having to rely on a software platform to do it.
- Wanting structured energy management without committing to a platform
- No reliable baselines or continuous performance tracking
- ISO 50001 alignment that needs more than headline reporting
- A need for engineering judgement, not just a dashboard of numbers

How EM3 Delivers It
Assess and benchmark
We start by establishing the baselines and measuring your energy performance, so everything that follows is anchored to a real starting point rather than an assumption.
Strategic planning
We help develop a focused energy action plan, set the objectives and targets annually and evolve the plan continually, covering the energy policy, the interested parties and the risks and opportunities that affect energy performance.
Annual detailed energy review
We determine and develop the appropriate EnPIs for effective monitoring, establish an appropriate baseline, and keep the meter maps up to date, on an annual cycle.
Monthly monitoring and reporting
We track performance continuously, with a monthly review of the EnPIs and their associated actions and a monthly energy performance review meeting, supported by engineer-led reporting.
Audits and compliance
The service includes four internal audits of your Significant Energy Users per year, a full energy management system gap analysis, a management review of energy performance, and ongoing support for the actions on the non-conformance register.
Ongoing support
It is backed by site visits included in the fee and monthly meetings, with a dedicated team available throughout, so the programme keeps moving rather than stalling between reviews.
What You Receive
An ISO 50001-aligned EMS
A structured energy management service, aligned with the ISO 50001 framework, delivered over a twelve-month term.
A detailed annual energy review
EnPIs developed and reviewed, an appropriate baseline established, and your meter maps kept up to date.
An evolving action plan
A focused energy action plan, developed continually, with objectives and targets set each year.
Monthly performance reviews
A monthly review of the EnPIs and their actions, and a monthly energy performance review meeting.
Audits and compliance support
Four internal Significant Energy User audits a year, a full EnMS gap analysis, a management review and non-conformance register support.
Engineer-led reporting and a specialist team
Engineer-led reporting and access to a dedicated energy-management team, a principal energy manager, an energy engineer and analyst, and a service-line lead, without needing a platform.
Proven Outcome
This is the engineer-led tier of energy management: everything an ISO 50001-aligned programme needs, delivered by a dedicated team rather than a platform. The package has been implemented across similar facilities for several years and has consistently driven measurable savings and efficiency improvements.
It is designed to deliver direct cost savings, the identification and realisation of energy-saving opportunities, actionable plans and roadmaps, assistance with rebates and grant funding, staff upskilling, and improvements in site productivity, all backed by access to a specialist energy team. There is no SAPERA platform and no automated dashboard here. The reporting is engineer-led, and the value is in the engineering, not the software.

Why EM3
Not a generic reporting service
This is a specialised energy management service aligned with ISO 50001 and supported by dedicated energy managers and engineers. The package has been implemented across similar facilities for several years and has consistently driven measurable savings and efficiency improvements.
Engineer-led, even without the platform
SAPERA and automated reporting are not included in this version, but the engineer-led monitoring and reporting are. You get the engineering judgement, not just a dashboard of numbers.
Deep ISO 50001 alignment
The scope goes well beyond high-level reporting: energy policy, interested parties, risks and opportunities, action planning, EnPIs, baselines, internal audits, EnMS gap analysis, management review and non-conformance support. That is a genuine operational and compliance role.
A whole team behind it
You get access to a dedicated energy-management team, a principal energy manager for liaison and delivery, an energy engineer and analyst, and a service-line lead, not a single point of contact.
How We Engage
Frequently Asked Questions
What does without SAPERA mean?
SAPERA is our energy-management platform with live cloud dashboards and automated reporting. This version delivers the same ISO 50001-aligned energy management, engineer-led, without the platform: the reporting is provided through Excel rather than a live dashboard, and the value is in the engineering team, not the software.
Is this just monthly reporting?
No. It goes well beyond reporting. It includes energy policy, risks and opportunities, objectives and targets, EnPIs and baselines, four internal Significant Energy User audits a year, a full EnMS gap analysis, a management review and non-conformance support, a genuine operational and compliance role.
Who delivers it?
A dedicated energy-management team: a principal energy manager responsible for liaison and overall delivery, an energy engineer and analyst, and a service-line lead, so you get a team, not a single contact.
How often do you meet and visit?
Meetings are monthly, usually held virtually, and the service includes site days in the fee, with additional days available where needed.
Will it support our ISO 50001 certification?
Yes. It is built around the ISO 50001 framework, including the audits, EnPIs, baselines, management review and non-conformance support that certification depends on.
How long is the engagement?
It is a structured, ongoing programme delivered over a twelve-month contract term, and designed to be continued year on year.
