Senior Energy Consultant

Position overview

The Senior Energy Consultant oversees large-scale energy consultancy assignments, advising clients at a strategic level and leading energy optimisation initiatives. You will conduct industrial energy audits, quantify savings, build the financial case for projects and verify performance improvements on client sites across North America.

Role responsibilities

Primary tasks

  • Conduct energy audits and opportunity surveys
  • Prepare energy consumption calculations
  • Develop financial justifications for projects
  • Identify anomalies and energy savings opportunities
  • Present reports to client organisations
  • Optimise existing energy infrastructure and review renewable alternatives
  • Verify energy performance improvements
  • Coordinate project delivery for EM3 clients
  • Support the development of junior engineers through mentoring
  • Build and maintain client relationships

Interactions

  • Exchange information with EM3 management
  • Coordinate closely with client facility organisations
  • Communicate with energy analytics teams

Administration

  • Prepare clear, accurate documentation
  • Maintain regular activity records
  • Complete daily timesheets

Requirements and qualifications

Experience

  • Five or more years in energy engineering
  • A demonstrated record of delivering energy audits and climate action strategies for industrial clients
  • Experience with industrial facilities (dairy, nutrition, pharma, biopharma, medical devices)
  • Knowledge of industrial utility systems
  • The ability to identify and quantify energy-saving opportunities
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Technical knowledge

  • A good working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of environmental, health and safety legislation
  • IPMVP (International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol) knowledge
  • A Professional Engineering (PE) licence

Education

A third-level honours degree in an engineering discipline, preferably energy engineering or a related field.

Personal attributes

A self-starter with an aptitude for facilities systems, able to interact effectively across organisational levels with a responsive and proactive approach.

Travel requirement: approximately 20% to client sites.
